On September 1, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut and Chairman of the Board of Rosselkhosbank Boris Listov initiated the bank’s educational project “The Farmer School”. The event was also attended by Chairman of the Committee for Agricultural Issues of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kashin, heads of the Russian Federal Subjects and regional APC bodies.
The federal educational project was launched simultaneously in four pilot regions: Stavropol Territory, Novosibirsk Region, the Republic of Bashkortostan and Moscow Region. Deputy Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut said that “The Farmer School” would allow people to unite, build up a profitable business, increase the level of competences in agriculture and get a charge from their labor. In addition, the Deputy Minister noted the important role of small and medium business subjects in agriculture. The Minselkhoz of Russia expects retaining the farmers’ share in production of agricultural products at the level of 14% this year and counts on increasing this indicator in future.
The goal of “The Farmer School” is to teach the anxious to build up and carry out successful agricultural business. The project provides for educating in frontline business methods, increasing financial literacy of farmers and getting practical skills. “The Farmer School” theoretical part includes classes based on programs of agricultural universities and the practical part would allow the trainees to grasp the best practices of leading agriculture producers.
In 2021, the International Agriculture Exhibition “AgroFarm” will traditionally include the section “The Farmer School” where agriculture producers could find much and useful information on business development and increase in farm profitability.
The business program of this section will include papers by machinery and equipment producer-companies about their innovations. Sectoral experts and APC science representatives will share practical advice, while bank and governmental structure representatives will consult in detail on new ways of financial and non-financial support of domestic farmers.
