The AGROFARM 2020 Exhibition Opened at VDNH EXPO

AGROFARM, an International Exhibition of Stock Breeding and Technologies for Livestock Products Production and Processing, opened in Pavilion No. 75 on February 4. During three days, guests of VDNH will be able to learn more about modern solutions in the field of national animal breeding, estimate best practices and global experience in the most diverse areas of the industry. The Exhibition was opened with a Foresight Session ‘Agriculture in Russia 2020–2025: The Outlook’.

While speaking at the solemn opening ceremony of the Exhibition, Gennady Shichkin, Acting Director of the Animal Husbandry and Breeding Department of Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture, emphasized that holding AGROFARM at VDNH is a good old tradition.

‘The AGROFARM Exhibition gives Russian and foreign companies a chance to demonstrate a wide range of cutting-edge equipment and technologies, and breeding animals. Scientists and practitioners will be able to discuss such issues as increasing production efficiency, competitiveness of products and other challenges our industry faces, in the framework of seminars, symposiums and roundtable discussions,’ a representative of the Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture said.

Aleksey Kondratenko, Member of the Federation Council Committee on Agriculture and Food Policy and Environmental Management, in his turn read out the welcome message by Alexei Mayorov, Chair of the Committee.

‘The animal breeding industry is one of the critical structural elements of the agro-industrial complex. It contributes a lot in development of agriculture, food and processing industries, provides import phase-out and food safety in Russia. The AGROFARM Exhibition has conventionally been an efficient venue for communication of representatives of business, state and science to discuss relevant issues of animal breeding,’ the message of the Chair said.

Vladimir Plotnikov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues, President of AKKOR (Russian Association of Rural and Farm Enterprises and Agricultural Cooperatives), told about dynamic development of the agricultural industry in Russia

‘The Russian Federation is turning into a more and more noticeable actor in international markets, and Russian products are notable for high quality. It’s our competitive advantage that should be developed further. For that purpose, we need to learn, to improve our skills, to update machinery, knowledge, to increase potential. AGROFARM provides all these opportunities,’ Vladimir Plotnikov noted.

He was supported by Andrei Razin, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region.

‘The AGROFARM Exhibition is a good discussion venue, a venue for demonstration of new technologies. We face a huge task – to increase export of agro-industrial products till 2024. Sure, we’ll never manage to succeed without innovative technologies and solutions, without promotion of our knowledge. Russia has a great potential, and it’s critical not only to avoid losing it, but to move forward just as gradually and dynamically as we did over the last years,’ Head of the Ministry added.

Andrey Danilenko, Head of the Committee on Agro-Industrial Policy in Delovaya Rossiya (Business Russia), noted that VDNH had historically been the main venue of the country to present achievements of the agricultural industry.

‘I have taken part in the AGROFARM Exhibition for more than ten years; I believe in traditions and I think, VDNH is a special place which is associated with the agrarian industry. Today we’ve had a foresight session, and it’s become obvious one more time that Russia has a huge potential in the agro-industrial sector. Not only in terms of providing products for the country, but also in terms of a strong presence of the country in the global product market,’ Head of the Committee said.

Artur Antonyan, First Deputy General Director of JSC VDNH, thanked everyone who took part in organization and holding of AGROFARM 2020.

‘VDNH is a traditional place for holding exhibitions of the agricultural sector. And we do our best to make our venue comfortable for all participants and guests of congress and exhibition events,’ Artur Antonyan emphasized.
