Kharon Amerkhanov: AGROFARM Exhibition at VDNH is a necessary fragment for development of Russia’s cattle-breeding industry.

Kharon Amerkhanov, Co-Chairman of the Exhibition Council at AGROFARM-2020, Professor of the Department of Dairy and Meat Cattle of Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy, – about the significance of AGROFARM exhibition for the agricultural sector of Russia overall and the cattle-breeding industry in particular, and the importance of holding the event at VDNH, where the event has been held traditionally throughout its history.

“Russia is an agrarian country, however, we need not only produce but showcase what we do, share all the cutting-edge achievements that we have. In this sense AGROFARM exhibition at VDNH has considerable significance for the cattle-breeding industry as a whole and development of livestock farming in particular: it allows us to showcase at the international level our achievements in every sphere, be it production, processing or scientific research.

The role that AGROFARM at VDNH plays cannot be underestimated: the event is a necessary element of development of cattle farming as a whole. Without the exhibition we will not be able to show product manufacturers our achievements, while all cutting-edge developments must be introduced in production. This is true not only for cattle farming or related technologies.

We must provide information on the results of the work that we do at all levels, to the lowest level of the hierarchy – pig farm attendants, tractor drivers or mechanics. All of them need to know what great results we have achieved in Russia in the 21st century. This is very important because the development of the agricultural sector represents a civilized way for our country to take a worthy place in the world.

Such an event can only be held at VDNH because it is the historical, traditional venue of the agricultural exhibition.

The priority directions of AGROFARM-2020 business programs are, obviously, cattle breeding, livestock farming, cutting-edge technologies. We cannot achieve progress without it, and going round in circles is not what we want to do. Working together with the Ministry of Agriculture, the business community and research institutes always leads to some positive change. I am confident that in 2020 we will once again hold this event in accordance with the highest of standards. This, in turn, will allow us to achieve good performance indicators.
