Beef breeding, a new sector of agriculture for the Magadan Region, has taken off in the last two years. Available spacious agricultural fields of the region that are not engaged in the farming business make this direction promising.
Support of beef breeding is provided in the framework of implementation of the event on support of family livestock farms. Sergey Komar, Head of a family farm, implements a project for growing livestock population of special beef breeds.
Out of the grant funds the husbandry farm has repaired and reconstructed the premises to keep large cattle population, purchased the machinery required to keep the farm. In 2018, meat-type productivity large cattle of a Kalmyk breed from the Republic of Buryatia was delivered in a number of 384 heads. Implementation of the project will ensure entrance of high-quality cooled beef to the regional market in the amount of 100 tons per year.
