AGROFARM 2020 at VDNH Confirms Its Status as Key Livestock Breeding Exhibition in Russia
The key livestock breeding exhibition in Russia, AGROFARM 2020 took place in Pavilion 75 at VDNH on February 4–6, 2020. The equipment, technologies and services for all directions in the industry were presented by more than 150 companies from 12 countries of the world: Russia, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Spain, Canada, China, Turkey, the Republic of Korea, Italy, France and Lithuania.
AGROFARM 2020 14th International Exhibition presented a broad range of technology and equipment for cattle breeding, pig farming, poultry farming, aquaculture, rabbit farming and other types of livestock breeding. For instance, Fournier Co. (France) presented unique feed- and water troughs made of concrete and stainless steel; Vredo (The Netherlands) presented modern mowing machines and grassland husbandry, and Ferrum Co. (Kaluga, Russia) showed high-quality stable equipment. Representatives of agribusiness enterprises and veterinarians expressed considerable interest in livestock breeding methods. This year the event was also attended by 11 science centers which presented practical results in their “Science for Livestock Breeding” section.
One of the most frequently visited was the exposition of breeding farm animals and birds. About a hundred of best representatives of various breeds took part in AGROFARM 2020, including Vladimir heavy draught horses Gazolin and Laska from Fomin Stables, Holstein cows Groza and Romashka from Moscow Region, breeding bulls Chernysh, Belyash and Ryzhik from Kaliningrad Region, rare for Russia Norfolk and Australian sheep and goats, other sheep and goats of productive breeds as Suffolk, Romney, Texel and Anglo-Nubian, rabbits, chinchillas, chickens, quail and many other species. The specially constructed AGROFARM Ring was installed in Hall A of Pavilion 75 so that the participants could hold their numerous presentations and practical workshops there.
As part of the business program, the exhibition featured 66 events with participation of more than 150 leading Russian and international experts from Australia, the UK, the USA and France. The program started with the foresight session “Russian Agriculture in 2020–2025: A Look into the Future,” moderated by Andrey Danilenko, Chairman of the Committee on Agro-Industrial Policy of Delovaya Rossiya (Business Russia). The plenary session entitled “Transformation of Mechanisms for Support of Livestock Breeding” discussed state support of small businesses and development of cooperation in agriculture.
This year the Exhibition also presented the Farmers’ Business School, which catered to specialists in agriculture from across Russia. Participants of business missions – more than 100 people all in all – came to AGROFARM from Smolensk, Bryansk, Kursk, Yaroslavl, Lipetsk, Vologda, Belgorod, Kaluga, Tambov, Ryazan, Vladimir, and Moscow Regions, Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Crimea. The delegations included representatives of regional industry ministries and departments, livestock breeding, peasant and farmer businesses, who got the opportunity to receive important information and consultations from leading market players.
Additionally, the Exhibition hosted the Best of AGROFARM Competition award ceremony. The competition is aimed at popularization, promotion and introduction into practice of original products, innovations and modern technologies for production and processing of agricultural livestock products. This year the independent expert commission selected 15 winners in three nominations: Best Product, Best Service, Best R&D Product.
Summarizing the results of AGROFARM 2020, we can conclude that over the three days of the event Pavilion 75 of VDNH became not only an exposition of achievements in livestock breeding industry, but also, first and foremost, a venue for constructive dialog with bodies of government, a productive discussion of mechanisms of state support of Russian agribusiness.
